ऋषि: मेधातिथी काण्व = कण कण कर के मेधा से उन्नति करने वाला
1. अयं देवाय जन्मने स्तोमो र्विप्रेभिरासया ।
अकारि रत्नधातम: ।। RV1.20.1
जो दिव्य जीवन की प्राप्ति के लिए ज्ञानियों के मुख से उत्तम दिव्य ज्ञान प्राप्त करते हैं.इस प्रकार उन का जीवन रमणीयतम तत्वों को धारण कर लेता है.
2. य इन्द्राय वचोयुजा ततक्षुर्मनसा हरी ।
शमीभिर्यज्ञमाशत ।। RV1.20.2
जो मन से विद्वानों के उपदेश के अनुसार अपनी ज्ञानेंद्रियों और कर्मेंद्रियों दोनो से शिल्प कुशलता पुरुषार्थ शीघ्र कार्य सिद्धि से निर्माण के कार्य करते हैं जैसे शमी वृक्ष से स्रुवा बना कर यज्ञ के द्वारा वे शांति पूर्वक उत्तम सुखमय व्यवस्था स्थापित करते हैं.
3. तक्षन्नासत्याभ्यां परिज्मानं सुखं रथम् ।
तक्षन् धेनुं सबर्दुघाम् । RV1.20.3
वे जन जल और अग्नि के साधनों से उत्तम शिल्प विद्या द्वरा सब जनों के सुख के लिए आने जाने के सुंदर रथादि के निर्माण की व्यवस्था और उत्तम बुद्धि के लिए सुंदर दूध वाली गौओं को भी उपलब्ध करते हैं.

4. युवाना पितरा पुन: सत्यमन्त्रा ऋजूयव: ।
ऋभवो विष्टयक्रत ।।RV 1.20.4
सत्याचरण और सरल स्वभाव युक्त अपने कर्म करने वाले ऋभु दो भिन्न गुण वाले तत्वों भौतिक और सामाजिक दोनों क्षेत्रों में (जैसे जल और अग्नि, positive and negative , electromagnetism ) तथा समाज में युवा वर्ग और प्रौढ वर्ग,को कार्य सिद्ध करने में बरम्बार प्रयुक्त करते हैं.

7. ते नो रत्नानि धत्तन त्रिरासाप्तानि सुन्वते ।
एकमेकं सुशस्तिभि: ।। RV1.20.7
त्रिसप्ता रत्न- तीन लोक –(पृथ्वी, अंतरिक्ष,द्यौ )–तीन इन के अधिष्ठाता – (अग्नि, वायु, सूर्य) ,तीन गुण – (सत्व,रजस्व, तमस्), त्रि देव – (ब्रह्मा, विष्णु, महेश) इन के तीन कार्य- ( सृष्टि, स्थिति,प्रलय), तीन काल - (भूत, वर्तमान, भविष्य) ,तीन दिष-(वात,पित्त, कफ) , तीन अवस्थाएं – (बाल्य,यौवन, जरा)
इसी प्रकार सात ऋषी: ( कश्यप , अत्रि, वसिष्ठ, विश्वामित्र,गौतम,जमदग्नि, भरद्वाज), सात वार – (रवि,चंद्र, मङ्गल, बुध,ब्र्हस्पति,शुक्र, शनि) ,सात मरुद्गण-(उग्र, भीम, ध्वांत,धुनि,सासह्वान्, अभ्युग्वा,विक्षिप), सात लोक- ( भू:, भुव: ,स्व:,मह:, जन:, सत्य), सात छंद- ( गायत्री,उष्णिक,अनुष्टुप,बृहती,
इन सब में अच्छी अच्छी प्रशंसा वाली क्रियाओं से समस्त विद्या,सुवर्णादि धनों को अच्छी प्रकार धारण करें.
8. अधारयन्त वह्नयोऽभजन्त सुकृत्यया ।
भागं देवेषु यज्ञियम् ।RV 1.20.8
इस बाह्य संसार में शुभ कर्म वा उत्तम गुणों को प्राप्त कराने वाले बुद्धिमान सज्जन श्रेश्ठकर्म से विद्वानों में रह कर यज्ञादि कर्मों से आनंद का निरंतर सेवन करते हैं.

1. कर्शफस्य विशफस्य द्यौः पिता पृथिवी माता ।
यथाभिचक्र देवास्तथाप कृणुता पुनः । ।AV3.9.1
हाथ पेर से काम करके जीने वाले और बिना हाथ पेर के अपना जीवन चलाने वालों दोनो को प्रकृति ने समान रूप से जन्म दिया है. यह प्रकृति का चक्र है जो इसी प्रकार से चलता रहता है.
2. अश्रेष्माणो अधारयन्तथा तन्मनुना कृतं ।
कृणोमि वध्रि विष्कन्धं मुष्काबर्हो गवां इव । । AV3.9.2
(अश्रेष्माण: ) त्रिदोश रहित अनासक्त दयालु मनन करनेवाले विचारशील जन ही (अधारयन) पालन पोषन करते हैं. (विष्किन्धम्) कार्य प्रगति के मार्ग में प्रतिबन्धक सभी विघ्नों को(अधार्मिक भ्रष्टाचारी) जनों से मुक्त करने के लिए उद्दन्ड पशुओं को जैसे मुष्टिका और बाहुबल से बधिया निर्वीर्य किया जाता है वैसे ही इन तत्वों को समाज में निर्वीर्य करो.
3. पिशङ्गे सूत्रे खृगलं तदा बध्नन्ति वेधसः ।
श्रवस्युं शुष्मं काबवं वध्रिं कृण्वन्तु बन्धुरः । । AV3.9.3
(श्रवस्युम्) - (श्रवस्युम्) लोकैषणा यश को अपने साथ जोड़ने की कामना करने वालों को . (शुष्मम्) वित्तैषणा – धन की कामना से शोषण करने वालों,(काबवम्) जीवन को अनुराग युक्त पुत्रैषणा पित्र मोह से ग्रसित क्रूर लोगों को (वेधस: ) विधि विधान जानने वाले ज्ञानी जन भिन्न भिन्न – नीतियों के कवच से (बध्रिम् कृण्वन्तु) बधिया करो - उन के प्रभाव को निष्फल करो .
असुरों के समान मायावी छल कपट से अनुचित साधनों से अपनी कीर्ति और सम्पत्ति को चाहने वाले देशद्रोही क्रूर जन जो देवताओं के समान विचर रहे हैं उन क्रूर प्राणियों के बीच उत्पात मचा कर उन्हें आपस में ऐसे लड़ा दो जैसे कुत्तों के बीच में उत्पाती बन्दर के आने से होता है.
5. दुष्ट्यै हि त्वा भत्स्यामि दूषयिष्यामि काबवं ।
उदाशवो रथा इव शपथेभिः सरिष्यथ । । AV3.9.5
दुष्ट क्रूर विघ्नकारी जनों को बांधकर ही तुम प्रगति के कार्य की योजना की शपथ ले कर तीव्र गति वाले अश्वो से युक्त रथों से अपने मार्ग पर अग्रसर हो सकोगे.
6. एकशतं विष्कन्धानि विष्ठिता पृथिवीं अनु ।
तेषां त्वां अग्रे उज्जहरुर्मणिं विष्कन्धदूषणं । । AV3.9.6
एक सौ एक (विष्किन्धानि ) कार्य प्रगति के मार्ग में प्रतिबन्धक रोक लगाने वाले (अधार्मिक भ्रष्टाचारी) जन जो पृथ्वी पर स्थापित है उन से मुक्त करने के लिए (तेषाम् अग्रे ) उन के बीच मुख्याधिकारी (ऊज्जहरुर्मणिं) शिरोमणि अधिष्ठाता नियुक्त क्रो जो (विष्किंधदूषणम्) विघ्नकारी जनों के प्रदूषन को दूर करे

पापनाशनम्
Healthy Mind
1. वि देवा जरसावृतन्वि त्वं अग्ने अरात्या ।
व्यहं सर्वेण पाप्मना वि यक्ष्मेण सं आयुषा । ।AV3.31.1
देवता –मनुष्य में दैवीय गुण बुढ़ापे से दूर रखते हैं, जैसे अग्नि कंजूसी से दूर रहती
है ( अग्नि का गुण है कि सब को मुक्त हृदय से बिना कंजूसी के अपना सब कुछ सब
को बांट देती है ) , इस प्रकार मैं समस्त पापों से दूर रह कर क्षय करने वाले रोगों से
दूर रह कर दीर्घायु बनूं.
Divine virtues keep the old age away. Take lesson from Homa
fire, that without being selfishly miser generously shares with
everyone all the ablutions made in to it, and be open hearted,
forgiving and generous to all in life and lead a clean pure life.

2. व्यार्त्या पवमानो वि शक्रः पापकृत्यया ।
व्यहं सर्वेण पाप्मना वि यक्ष्मेण सं आयुषा । AV3.31.2
अपने जीवन में पवित्र आचरण द्वारा पुरुष, रोगादि पीड़ाओं से पृथक रह कर
शक्तिशाली बना रहता है. इस प्रकार मैं समस्त पापों से दूर रह कर क्षय करने वाले
रोगों से दूर रह कर दीर्घायु बनूं.
By observing physical cleanliness, observing clean habits , living
in clean environments and living on pure clean food keeps the
body free of disease and maladies. Thus by avoiding wrongful
conduct attains long life.

3. वि ग्राम्याः पशव आरण्यैर्व्यापस्तृष्णयासरन् ।
व्यहं सर्वेण पाप्मना वि यक्ष्मेण सं आयुषा । । AV3.31.3
ग्राम्यपशु गौ घोड़ा हिंसक पशुओं व्याघ्र आदि से दूर रहते हैं , जल प्यास से दूर रहते
हैं इस प्रकार मैं समस्त पापों से दूर रह कर क्षय करने वाले रोगों से दूर रह कर
दीर्घायु बनूं.
Domestic animals cows, dogs, horses stay away from carnivore.
Thirst stays away from water. Thus by avoiding wrongful conduct
attain long life

4. वी मे द्यावापृथिवी इतो वि पन्थानो दिशंदिशं ।
व्यहं सर्वेण पाप्मना वि यक्ष्मेण सं आयुषा । । AV3.31.4
ये द्यौ: और पृथ्वी एक दूसरे से दूर रह कर ही चलते हैं, भिन्न भिन्न दिशाओं के मार्ग
भी पृथक रहते हैं. इस प्रकार मैं समस्त पापों से पृथक रह कर क्षय करने वाले रोगों
से दूर रह कर दीर्घायु बनूं.
Sunshine and Earth have separate paths, but still move together,
different roads can lead to same destination. Learn to keep your
mind on the objectives and do not get confused by different
alternative paths. Thus by avoiding wrongful conduct attain long

5. त्वष्टा दुहित्रे वहतुं युनक्तीतीदं विश्वं भुवनं वि याति ।
व्यहं सर्वेण पाप्मना वि यक्ष्मेण सं आयुषा । । AV3.31.5
त्वष्टा –सूर्य,अपनी पुत्री किरणों को दहेज की भांति उपहार के साथ भेज कर इस
एक रथ में जोड़ता है, किरणों के लिए सब मार्ग से हट जाते हैं. और चन्द्रमा का
गृह स्थापित हो जाता है, जिस से समस्त मानसिक व्यवस्था सम्पन्न होती है. - इस
विषय को और स्पष्ट करते हुए यजुर्वेद18-40 “सुषुम्ण: सूर्य्यरश्मिश्चन्द्रमा
गन्धर्वस्तस्य नक्ष्त्राण्यप्सरसो भेकुरयो नाम" – गंधर्वों –Cultured सुशिक्षित जनों में
योग साधना से , दोनों नासिकाओं से पृथक पृथक श्वास द्वारा सूर्य नाड़ी और
चंद्रनाड़ी सुषुम्णा बन कर सदा गति शील बन कर मस्तिष्क और भौतिक शरीर की
अध्यक्षता करती हैं इस प्रकार मैं भी समस्त पापों से दूर रह कर क्षय करने वाले
रोगों से दूर रह कर दीर्घायु बनूं.
( सूर्य की दुहिता रूपि रश्मियों के चन्द्रमा के गृह जाने को सूर्य की दुहिता से चन्द्रमा
के विवाह की उपाधि दी जाती है. )

6.अग्निः प्राणान्त्सं दधाति चन्द्रः प्राणेन संहितः ।
व्यहं सर्वेण पाप्मना वि यक्ष्मेण सं आयुषा । । AV3.31.6
अग्नि जाठराग्नि के रूप में अन्न के रसों द्वारा प्राणों नेत्र आदि इन्द्रियों का शरीर में
परस्पर तालमेल बैठाती है. चंद्रमा सोम के द्वारा प्राण के आधार भूत उत्तम मन के
साथ मिल कर जीवन को पुष्ट करता है. इस ज्ञान के आधार पर मैं समस्त पापों से
दूर रह कर क्षय करने वाले रोगों से दूर रह कर दीर्घायु बनूं.
(जीव कर्म करने में स्वतंत्र एक hardware जैसा है, इस का संचालन करने वाला
सोम इस Hardware को चलाने वाला Software है. तैतरीय के अनुसार “सोमो
राजा राजपति:”, “सोमो विश्ववनि” . सोम ही विश्व का प्रजनन करने वाला है. )

ब्रह्मचर्य – Brahmacharya
6. प्राणेन विश्वतोवीर्यं देवाः सूर्यं सं ऐरयन् ।
व्यहं सर्वेण पाप्मना वि यक्ष्मेण सं आयुषा । । AV3.31.7
वीर्य द्वारा विश्व के लिए प्राण दे कर सब देवताओं को सम्यक प्रस्तुत किया जाता है .
इस प्रकार मैं समस्त पापों से दूर रह कर (वीर्य की रक्षा कर के) क्षय करने वाले
रोगों से दूर रह कर दीर्घायु बनूं.
(इस संदर्भ मे यहां ऋग्वेद 8.100.1 “ अयं त एमि तन्वा पुरस्ताद्विश्वे देवा अभि
मा यन्ति पश्चात| यदा मह्यं दीधिरो भागमिन्द्राssदिन्मया कृणवो वीर्याणि||” में
वीर्य द्वारा गर्भादान के साथ ही सब देवताइस शरीर में चले आते हैं )
All faculties that exercise control over physical faculties enter the
ova through sperms in the fetus. By exercising control on
protecting your sperms, one maintains all body faculties till long

यहां प्रसिद्ध मंत्र “ तच्चक्षुर्देवहितं शुक्रमुच्चरत | पश्येमशरद: शतम् || RV 7.66.16
भी प्रासंगिक है . – शुक्र को ऊपर की ओर ले जा कर - ऊर्ध्वरेता बन कर चक्षुओं को
स्वस्थ बना कर सौ वर्ष तक देखो.
Longevity is inherited दीर्घायु माता पिता से आती है.
8.आयुष्मतां आयुष्कृतां प्राणेन जीव मा मृथाः ।
व्यहं सर्वेण पाप्मना वि यक्ष्मेण सं आयुषा । । AV3.31.8
स्वयं दीर्घायु वाले और दीर्घायु प्रदान करने वाले (माता पिता जैसे देवताओं के)
दीर्घायु प्राणों का सामर्थ्य मैं व्यर्थ न जाने दूं. इस प्रकार मैं समस्त पापों से दूर रह
कर क्षय करने वाले रोगों से दूर रह कर दीर्घायु बनूं.( इस मन्त्र में में दीर्घायु का
पारिवारिक देवताओं माता पिता का के स्वयं दीर्घायु होने से सम्बंध बताया है ,
जिसे आधुनिक विज्ञान भी मानता है कि दीर्घायु वंश गत inherited trait होती है.)
Long life is an inherited trait. Thus by avoiding wrongful conduct

9. प्राणेन प्राणतां प्राणेहैव भव मा मृथाः ।
व्यहं सर्वेण पाप्मना वि यक्ष्मेण सं आयुषा । । AV3.31.9
सदैव जीवित उत्साही कर्मठ मन्यु से प्रेरित जनों के जीवन से ही प्ररणा ले कर जी.
प्रकार समस्त पापों से दूर रह कर क्षय करने वाले रोगों से दूर रह कर दीर्घायु बनूं.
Adopt role models as people that lead an active zestful life. Thus
by avoiding wrongful conduct attain long life

10. उदायुषा सं आयुषोदोषधीनां रसेन ।
व्यहं सर्वेण पाप्मना वि यक्ष्मेण सं आयुषा । AV3.31.10
उदय होते हुए सूर्य उषा के ओषधि रूप रसों को प्राप्त करके ही मैं दीर्घायु को प्राप्त
करुं. इस प्रकार मैं समस्त ( प्रात; कालीन सूर्य के दर्शन न कर पाने की आलस्य वृत्ति
से दूर रह कर क्षय करने वाले रोगों से दूर रह कर दीर्घायु बनूं
(इस विषय पर वेदों से अत्यंत आधुनिक विज्ञान इस प्रकार से मिलता है .
प्राता रत्नं प्रातरित्वा दधाति तं चिकित्वान् प्रतिगृह्या नि धत्ते ।
तेन प्रजां वर्धयमान आयू रायस्पोषेण सचते सुवीरः ।। ऋ 1-125- 1
प्रातःकाल का सूर्य उदय हो कर बहुमूल्य रत्न प्रदान करता है। बुद्धिमान उन रत्नों के
महत्व को जान कर उन्हें अपने में धारण करते हैं।तब उस से मनुष्यों की आयु और
संतान वृद्धि के साथ सम्पन्नता और पौरुष बढ़ता है।
यही विषय ऋग्वेद के निम्न मंत्र में भी मिलता है.
कृष्णायद्गोष्वरुणीषु सीदद् दिवो नपाताश्विना हुवे वाम |
वीथं मे यज्ञमा गतं मे अन्नं ववन्वासा नेष्मस्मृतध्रू ||
ऋ 10.61.4 (सायण भाष्य )
जब लाल किरणों में काला तम होता है उस समय हे द्यौ के (प्रकाशमान आकाश )
के पुत्रो मैं आप को बुलाता हूं. आप आ कर मेरे अन्नमयकोश को मेरे लिए (अस्मृतध्रू)
किसी प्रकार का द्रोह रोगादि हिंसा रहित कीजिए || यह दोनो देवता उस समय के
सब को नये जीवन देने वाले प्रकाश के वाची हैं इसी लिए देवभिषक कहलाते हैं. ||
(वैज्ञानिकों के अनुसार केवल UVB-Ultra Violet B - किरणें , जो पृथ्वी पर
तिरछी पड़ती हैं, वे ही संधि वेला प्रातः सायं की सूर्य की किरणें विटामिन डी
उत्पन्न करके हमारे अन्न के पोषन द्वारा हमें सर्व रोग रहित बनाती हैं।)

वेदिक समाजवाद AV 3.30
1.सहृदयं सांमनस्यमविद्वेषं कृणोमि व: । अन्यो: अन्यमसि हर्यत वत्सं जातमिवाघ्न्या॥ अथर्व 3.30.1
तुम्हारे हृदय में सामनस्व हो, मन द्वेष रहित हो, एकीभाव हो. परस्पर स्नेह करो जैसे गौ अपने नवजात बछड़े से करती है.
2. अनुव्रत: पितु: मात्रा भवतु संमना । जाया पत्ये मधुमती वाचं वदतु श न्तिवाम् ॥ अथर्व3.30.2
पुत्र पिता की आज्ञा पालन करने वाला हो. माता के साथ समान मन वाला हो. स्त्री पति के लिए मधुर और शान्ति दायिनी वाणी बोले.
3. मा भ्राताभ्रातरं द्विक्षन्मा स्वसारमुत स्वसा । सम्यञ्च: सव्रताभूत्वा वाचं वदत भद्रया ॥ अथर्व 3.30.3
भाई भाई से द्वेष न करे, बहिन बहिन से द्वेष न करे.सब उचित आचार विचार वाले और समान व्रतानुष्ठायी बन कर आपस मे मृदु कल्याणकारी वाणी बोलें .
4.येन देवा न वियन्ति ना च विद्विषते मिथ: । तत् कृन्मो ब्रह्म वो गृहे संज्ञान पुरुषेभ्य: ॥ अथर्व 3.30.4
जिस कर्म के अनुष्ठान से मनुष्य देवत्व बुद्धि सम्पन्न हो कर एक दूसरे से परस्पर मिलजुल कर रहते हैं, आपस में द्वेष नहीं करते, उन के इस कर्म से ज्ञान प्राप्त कर के एक्यमत उत्पन्न होता है.
5.ज्यायस्वन्तश्चित्तिनो मावि यौष्ट संराधयन्त: सधुराश्चरन्त: ॥
अन्यो अन्यस्मै वल्गु वदन्त एत सध्रीचीनान्व: संमनस्कृणोमि ॥ अथर्व 3.30.5
निज निज कर्मों के प्रति सचेत बड़ों के आदर्शों से प्रेरित अपनाअपना उत्तरदायित्व समान रूप से वहन करते हुए साथ साथ चल कर, प्रत्येक के लिए प्रिय वचन बोलते हुए एक मन से साथ साथ चलने वाले बनो.
6. समानी प्रपा सह वोsन्नभागा समाने योक्त्रेसह वो युनज्मि ।
सम्यञ्चो sग्निं सपर्तारा नाभिमिवाभित: ॥ अथर्व 3.30.6
तुम्हारे जलपानके स्थान एक ही हों, तुमारा अन्न सेवन का स्थान एक हो,No untouchables , No five star culture . इस संसार में समान उत्तरदायित्व के वहन में तुम्हें एक जुए में जोड़ता हूं. जिस के पहियों के नाभि चक्र के अरों - लट्ठों की तरह एक जुट हो कर अग्नि से यज्ञादि शुभ कर्म करो. ( यज्ञ जो संसार में श्रेष्ठ तम कर्म हैं उन का प्रतीक रूप अग्निहोत्र है. अग्नीहोत्र में मुख्य चारआधाराज्ञ आहुती होती हैं. प्रथम अग्नि को दूसरी सोम को, तीसरी इन्द्र को चौथी प्रजापति को. सोम को आधुनिक भाषा में ideas, अग्नि को Fire, इन दोनों को मिला कर Ideas on Fire कहा जाता है. जब इन्द्र Entrepreneurइस अग्नि और सोम से प्रज्वलित होते
हैं तभी प्रजापति – संसार कि प्रगति के साधन बन कर संसार का पालन करते है. Entrepreneur fired by an idea becomes modern Henry Ford, Bill Gates and Steve jobs. They were not aiming to become rich and famous but were fired by their ideas to bring a Car, a computer, a more convenient communication aid to common man. भारतीय इतिहास में चाणक्य, महर्षि दयानंद, स्वामी विवेकानंद , सुभाषचन्द्र बोस,महात्मा गांधी इसी श्रेणी में आते हैं )
7.सध्रीचीनान्व संमनस्यकृणोम्येकश्नुष्ठीन्त्सं

3. Govatsa Dwadashi or Vasubaras
Govatsa Dwadashi is the day to worship the cow along with her calf.
3.1 Importance of cow
A. Cow is a very useful animal: The cow, who is sattva-predominant, nourishes the society with her milk and lends fertility to the soil with the manure of her dung, is worthy of worship everywhere. The Hindus call the cow as Mother with gratitude. Where there is protection and nurture of cow, the person, society and nation do not lack in prosperity.B. Principles of all Deities are attracted in the cow: Bhagwan Srikrushna is fond of cows. Dattatreya is also accompanied by a cow. The feature of the cow is that it attracts the Principles of all the Deities. Hence, it is said that all Deities dwell in the cow. The components obtained from the cow namely, milk, ghee, cow-dung or cow’s urine have the Principle of Deities accumulated in them.C. The premise is purified by cow urine: Most of the Ayurvedic medicines contain cow urine. By sprinkling the cow urine in the premise, the destroyer frequencies of Deities’ Principles are emitted in the environment because of which theraja-tama predominant energies in the premise are driven away and the environment there becomes pure. ThePanchagavya, that is, a mixture of five substances including cow urine, is important for internal and external purification during the ritual of worship.

According to Shaka Samvat the day of Ashwin Krushna Dwadashi and according to Vikram Samvat, Kartik Krushna Dwadashi is called Govatsa Dwadashi.Spiritual importance of Govatsa Dwadashi:
3.3 Fasting under Govatsa Dwadashi
This vrat is done by consuming one meal. However, in the meal cow milk and the dishes made from it and fried foods likebhujiya, pakaudi etc. are not consumed.
3.4 Science underlying the worship of cow in the morning or evening on Govatsa Dwadashi
In the morning or evening the frequencies of Shri Vishnu in manifest form are attracted in the cow in higher proportion. These frequencies accelerate the unmanifest frequencies of Shri Vishnu in 10 % more proportion.

On Soma: What it is and what it does
Monier Williams (in his great Sanskrit English Dictionary) interprets SOMA only at physical level as a -juice, extract,(esp.)the juice of Soma plant, (also) the Soma plant itself,(said to be a climbing plant) the stalks, an अंशु anshu of which is pressed between stones by the priests, then sprinkled with water , and purified in a strainer to get Soma. Anshu अंशु however is translated by MW as a filament(especially of Soma plant);thread; end of a thread, a minute particle; a point, end;..
There is an obvious incongruity in this interpretation of Soma. It will be physically a difficult / impractical task to press the thread, end of thread, a minute particle, a point of Soma plant. The entire concept of an already minute particle, to be pressed between stones, sprinkled with water and purified in a strainer is more in the realm of an imagined process and not physically feasible .
Thus in popular perception SOMA is a kind of herbal preparation, which is consumed for exhilarating/ stimulating benefits. But Soma is a lot more than a mere stimulating herbal concoction. The entire 9th chapter (Mandal) on Pavmani Soma of Rig Veda appears to have escaped notice of MW in giving this highly limiting interpretation of Soma. Pavmani Soma signifies a non physical entity that provides the stimulant for physical action for welfare and benefit of entire creation. A popular perception about SOM is that it is some kind of a herbal preparation, which is consumed for exhilarating benefits. However it is very clearly stipulated in Vedas-“what persons regard as Soma cannot be eaten or drunk.” RV (10.85.3) i.e., Soma is not a mere herb. Again RV10.85.2 adds, -The sun is strong by Soma, the earth is vast by Soma,…..”. The whole of RV Mandal 9 is about Soma, and clearly indicates the non physical nature of SOM.
Basically Soma represents a talent, capacity and quality which is at the root of all motivations which make possible innumerable constructive, beneficial tasks & actions, for welfare of the world.
वेदों में सोम के दो रूप दिखाइ पड्ते हैं। पावमानी सोम व सोम।पावमानि सोम चित्त को पवित्र कर्म मे प्रेरित करता है। इस से भिन्न सोम एक ज्ञान भी है जो अनुसंधान के प्रयास सेे उत्पन्न होता है।
ऋग्वेद नवां मंडल पूरा पावमानि सोम का बखान करता है। परन्तु ज्ञानका सोम कैसे उत्पन्न होता है इस के लिये ऋग्वेद10।11।4, से मार्गदर्शन प्राप्त होता है।
यह वेदमंत्र आधुनिक विज्ञान के अनुसन्धान के बारे मे एक विलक्षणव्याख्यान प्रस्तुत करता है
How Som is created is found in Rig Veda 10.11.4
अध त्यं द्रप्सं विभ्वं विचक्षणं विराभरिदिषितः श्येनो अध्वरे।
यदी विशो वृणते दस्ममार्या अग्निं होतारमध धीरजायत।। ऋ10.11.4
द्रप्सं साधारण दही की लस्सी indicating a very ordinarily met fluid,
विभ्वं when Looked in to by concentrating on its important aspects विचक्षणं brings to lightविराभरदिषितः as if the researcher pulls out of fire,श्येनो as a hawk eyed observer taking in his notice from very high position a total perception, अध्वरे the hard intelligent worker.यदीविशो if ordinary common persons वृणते adopt such strategies of scientific enquiry दस्म they आर्या become virtuous अग्निं होतरमध by performing yagna- to get fired in to action धी: thus Som in intellect thus gets जायत born
(Newton discovered the force of gravity by deep perception and observation of a very common every day event of an apple falling from a tree. This is the phenomenon Veda is saying in above Mantra.)

2 What Som Does
What Som Does and what is the effect of Som on a person who has got “Drunk” on Som is beautifully described in the thirteen mantras of Rig Veda 10.119 and may indeed look extremely futuristic even in context of present day modern world, by people brought up in western thinking who swear by the Darwin’s theory of evolution and really believe that older civilizations of our ancestors, were very primitive and did indeed live in caves before evolving from monkeys.
This Sukta says that a person who is drunk with Soma, is
1. Impelled in to action to provide for community service to look after all the living beings and cows and horses
2. Is bubbling with enthusiasm for self motivated positive action
3. As if he is always riding on high horses
4. Has his wits always around him, like a mother cow bellowing close to her calf
5. With dedication he brings glory to his seat of action
6. Nothing escapes his keen perception
7. Has good measure of the realities on ground and in space
8. Excels in area of his action
9. Can scale up his theater of action from earth to outer space
10. Can control and transfer heat, light and energy from one place to another as per his needs
11. Can make his establishments on earth as well as in space
Have in his command energy sources comparable to Sun.

Such a resourceful person by fully imbibing SOMA, is decorated and empowered to deliver like Indra.

Solar radiations, the greatness of earth and all the planets in the sky that support life, derive their abilities from the SOMA that is established in them.
सोमं मन्यते पपिवान्यत्संपिंषंत्योषधिम् !
सोमं यं ब्रह्माणो विदुर्न तस्याश्नाति कश्चन !! ऋग्वेद 10/85/3
Yask translates this mantra by saying-" Some chemists crush soma and then drink it, and think that they have drunk soma. This is not correct, because that is not true soma."
The Soma that Learned, Scientists, Intellectuals, know of is not an edible product.
आच्छद्विधानैर्गुपितो बार्हते सोम रक्षित: !
ग्राव्णामिच्छृएवन्तिष्ठसि नते अश्नाति पार्थिव: !! ऋग्वेद 10/85/4
It is covers and protects by well regulated non material laws governing the material world.
Soma cannot be physically consumed by a living being.
Soma in Vedic tradition thus represents essentially a non physical mind stimulant, and motivator. This motivating force for intellect is also the store of scientific knowledge from researches that are source of capability as an enabler of actions for the welfare of the society.
Language of Vedas is often highly poetical, and does not lend to literal translations. Most of the time there is reference to soma as a medicinal creeper, to be crushed under stones and then the juices strained through sieves woven from grey woolen threads. The person who finally finds this preparation of 'SOMA' gets drunk on it.
In analytical research a learned competent person follows the creeper of knowledge that has grown out of seeds planted by a problem. Experts engage in efforts to find solution /explanation to that problem. Researchers pursue the minute threads and filaments from the creeper of the existing body of researches & human knowledge, from studies and observations in nature. The topics of research problem can be in any field connected with welfare /progress of the society in social, medicinal, physical sciences. The efforts and knowledge pooled by the earlier researchers, is likened to the medicinal creeper that has grown to solve/cure the problem. The learned experts take cognizance of the accumulated knowledge of research efforts made thus far. Further research work proceeds by following the leads of the shoots and particles of the creeper of existing research work. This is like breaking one's head on stone of ignorance and crushing the minute particles अंशु of this medicinal creeper to find the 'juices'. New scientists sift and screen the data of earlier researches. This is likened to a sieve woven out of the grey hair of experience and used for straining the juices of the inference arrived at so far. The scientist who strains these 'Juices' and assimilates them in his intellect is obviously exhilarated at his findings, and is said to be intoxicated with his knowledge find.
Thus term Soma will mainly represent a knowledge, talent, capacity , quality and may also be considered to include any medicinal stimulants by uneducated people, the herbs that provide strength and stimulate motivations which make possible innumerable constructive, beneficial tasks & actions, for welfare of the world.
Knowledge based on R& D is SOMA

मैं परमेश्वर के दान का ही भोजन ग्रहण करता हूं ,मैं उसी भोजन को समस्त जीव जन्तुओं को देता हूं. मैं परमेश्वर की कृपा से ही यज्ञ करता हूं. मेरी यह याचना है कि इन प्रवृत्तियों से मैं कभी पृथक न होऊं .

4. नाके राजन्प्रति तिष्ठ तत्रैतत्प्रति तिष्ठतु ।
विद्धि पूर्तस्य नो राजन्त्स देव सुमना भव । ।AV6.123.5
The nation should enjoy a heaven like peace and happiness. Development of these virtues in individual temperaments is the only strategy to establish alround happiness in the nation.
हे राजन् राष्ट्र में स्वर्गमय सुख स्थापित हो. राष्ट्र में इस स्वर्गमय सुख को स्थापित करने का यही उपाय है कि सब जन उत्तम मानसिकता वाले हों.

शितिपात् अथवा शितिपाद् -शुभ्रगतिक, सूर्य की श्वेत किरणों जैसे दुर्गुणों, पापियों,राक्षसों , रोगाणुओं से स्वच्छता प्रदान करने वाला| शितिपाद – शितय: श्वेतवर्णा: पादा किरणा: यस्य स:- मेष संक्रांति के समय सूर्य की किरणें विशेषतया श्वेत भासती हैं. उग्र अग्नि को भी अंग्रेज़ी में White Hot कहते हैं. पौराणिक धारणा है कि इस समय सूर्य के उद्देष्य से दान दी गई वस्तु इष्टापूर्ति से अधिक बलवती होती हैं. यही मकरसंक्रान्ति इष्टापूर्तं यज्ञ / दान महत्व कहा जाता है.)

आमदनी (को दो प्रकार का - इष्टा: और पूर्ति: - बता कर उस) के सोलहवें भाग को कर के रूप में ग्रहण कर के नागरिक प्रशासन तंत्र द्वारा प्रजा को पर्यावरण स्वच्छता प्रदान सेवा इस मंत्र का विषय है.
Civic authorities may levy a tax amounting to sixteenth part of the income of individuals to render municipal services.
(Here Veda is describing two sources of the income of individual.
1. An individual according to his calling may devote himself to live by his contribution of knowledge, skills and labor.
2. The individual may live by bounties of Nature provided by his elders like fruits from trees planted long before, agriculture produce of his elders or mineral and such resources.)
(इष्टापूर्त: - इष्ट- वह जो मनुष्य अपनी इच्छानुसार अभीष्ट व्यवहार से अर्थोपार्जन करते हैं. इस में उद्योग, शिल्प और कर्त्ता की सत्ता का समावेश होता है | पूर्त:- इस में पूर्वजों,पितरों, प्रकृति के आशीर्वाद से सम्भरण पूर्ति के साधन प्राप्त होते हैं. जैसे पहले से बढ़े हुवे वृक्षों से फलादि का प्राप्त होना. कृषि इत्यादि से धान्य इत्यादि प्राप्त करना,सौर ऊर्जा से, जल प्रपातों नदियों से, भूमि गत खनिज पदार्थों इत्यादि से अर्थोपार्जन करना)
2.सर्वान्कामान्पूरयत्याभवन्प्
आकूतिप्रोSविर्दत्त: शितिपान्नोप दस्यति !! AV3.29.2
This tax is meant to give satisfaction to the community by providing environments free from garbage and protect from infections and pests.
यह दिया हुवा भाग संकल्पों को पूर्ण करने वाला, हिंसकों को दबाने वाला, प्रजा का संरक्षण करने वाला प्रभावशाली विस्तार का साधन हो. कहीं पर विनाश नहीं करता.
3. यो ददाति शितिपादमर्वि लोकेन संमितम् !
स नाकमभ्यारोहति यत्र शुल्को नक्रियते अबलेन बलीयते !!AV3.29.3
Those who participate by contributing willingly their share in the effort for civic duties, duly get recognition in the community (to participate) for widening the scope of public welfare. And less well to do are not burdened by any taxes.
जो लोग इस प्रकार समाज की अवनति हिंसा आदि से संरक्षण के साधनों मे अपना भाग, दान समझ कर देते हैं,वे समाज में सम्मनित होते हैं. तथा निर्बल मनुष्यों को बलवान के लिए धन नहीं देना पड़ता.

पञ्चपूप का अर्थ पांचों इंद्रियों के मल है. इस मल से प्रजा को सम्यक प्रकार से जांच कर रक्षा करने वाला अक्षितम्- कभी नष्ट न होने वाली परिस्थिति प्रदान करा के पूर्वजों की सभा में प्रतिष्ठा पाता है .

मानव के मल इत्यादि के दिन रात निर्मल करने की व्यवस्था से इस व्यवस्था करने वाले का नाम विश्रुत रहता है.

मानव की मल इत्यादि के दिन रात निर्मल करने की व्यवस्था से पर्यावरण की स्वच्छता से भूमि और जल की निर्मलता समुद्र की तरह कभी क्षीण नहीं होते. इस के द्वारा पौष्टिक ओषधी रूप अन्न प्राप्त होता है.
क इदं कस्मा अदात् काम: कामायादात् | कामो दाता काम: प्रतिग्रहीता काम: समुद्रमाविवेश | कामेन त्वा प्रति गृह्णामि कमैतत् ते || AV3.29.7
What is all this about? Who gives this assignment -wok? It is individual’s desire (for cleanliness) that assigns this. The ocean in the heart entertains this desire in every individual (to seek cleanliness). Every individual should be self motivated to accept his duty (to ensure cleanliness) in community work.
यह (स्वच्छता की) इच्छा सब की है. यही सब को निज कार्य (स्वच्छता) के लिए प्रेरित करती है. यह सब के हृदय में स्थापित हो और सब इस इच्छा की पूर्ति अपना अपना दायित्व भी समझें.
भूमिष्ट्वा प्रति गृह्णात्वन्तरिक्षमिदं महत्|
माहं प्राणेन मात्मना मा प्रजया प्रतिगृह्य वि राधिषि || AV 3.29.8
We must be alive to our duty for ensuring clean environment –the soil and atmosphere. Otherwise by getting unsuitable victuals (food and its preparations), we may be calling the death knell of the society.
हम इस भूमि और महान अंतरिक्ष (सम्पूर्ण पर्यावरण ) के प्रति अपना दायित्व समझें.अन्यथा अनउपयुक्त भोजनादि के पोषण से समाज अपने प्राण न खो बैठे.
